Well, here we are. The baby boomers are starting to retire. It wasn’t long ago that we used to say never trust anyone over 30. Now were saying never trust anyone under 40. My, how life has changed. As we find ourselves approaching retirement, we begin to realize what we thought was going to be a lot of money is really not enough to be comfortable in our retirement.
For many of us, when we entered the workforce, gasoline was about $.25 a gallon. A new car could be purchased for about $2000 or less and $8000 year was a very good salary. We put money away invested in our IRA or 401K only to see most of those gains go away. Some of it was due to inflation. some was due to market fluctuations. Whatever the cause, we find retirement not quite as cozy as we thought was going to be. Or maybe you just want to make extra money now. After all, we were the generation that would never get old. Whatever the case it’s never too late to start a new career.
I find myself part of that second group. I just cannot totally quit. So, I have developed my own second career. A lot of what I do now centers around things that I’ve always loved to do. I am taking my passion and making a substantial income with it. Everybody knows something that other people would like to learn. It took me a while to figure out what I knew. I just began a website about what I’d like to do and it has worked extremely well.
When you start this new adventure, it’s nice to sit down and take a personal inventory. Perhaps you did something as your career you can share with other people. Maybe you have a hobby that you really love. Perhaps you have a talent that other people find interesting. No matter what it is that you know, there is a market on the Internet that could be tapped and made into a substantial income.
The first step to your new career is to get a presence on the web. That of course means a website. There are lots of ways of getting the website up and running. I knew nothing about how to get website up much less how to drive traffic to it. As a retired history professor, I did the research. I began to research all the ways that people use to develop and get a website posted. Most of it was so complicated that I knew there was no way it would work for me. I could hire it done but that was way out of my price range. I needed to find a system that I could use and afford if I ever have any hope of marketing online. Now that I found it, I’m having the time of my life and making a few dollars to boot. Visit http://retire.sitesell.com/preparenow.html for more info.
My first step was to discover what it is that I enjoy and I would like to do now that I’m retired. I have always been an avid camper so I thought perhaps I could make a website about camping. I began to decide what this website would look like and generated several ideas. Once I had an idea of what I was going to do, I purchased a website construction software package. It was then that I realized I should’ve done that first and then worked on the website concept because they guided me through each step.
The program that I purchased was Site Build It. This allowed me to develop a webpage almost as easy as paint by numbers. The unique thing about Site Build It is that you can test your title before you ever decide what it is you want to build. The software research’s keywords, market size, and your ability to monetize your website. By the way, I had no idea what those words even were until I had purchased Site Build It. It would benefit you greatly if you would look into Site Build It as a way to jumpstart your second career. Take a look I think it’s something that virtually every one can do. Why not share your knowledge with the world and make a few bucks in the process. Or you can visit my site and see what I do. I’m sure you will agree you can do the same. Good luck, and do something now.
